After the week or so hiatus, I realize it's a bit odd to be so fixated on this particular franchise, but bear with me, as I assure this will be the last Toy Story related post for a good while. That said, I could not be more excited to share this particular trailer with you, that of the third, and likely final, installment in the Toy Story franchise, Toy Story 3. This film has the entire cast of the previous film returning, including the spastic Jessie the Yowdling Cowgirl, and the strident tones of Estelle Harris as Mrs. Potatohead. The return of Woody and the gang was almost certain, though you will be relieved to know that despite earlier rumors that Disney's own 3D house would be taking up the reigns for this sequel (despite their as yet abysmal record with films like Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons), the project has remained in the caring hands of Pixar under the management of newbie director Lee Unkrich who has been groomed as an editor and co-direct in previous Pixar titles like Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo.
The crux of the story follows the inevitable end of the toys tenure with child owner Andy (voiced by the grown up version of the original child voice actor) as he leaves for college, and in doing so leaves his beloved toys behind. From the trailer we gather that the toys are donated to a day-care, only soon to realize the chaotic force of dozens of unsupervised toddlers is not their idea of a good retirement, and soon decide to escape the drool infested preschooler prison. We also see from the trailer that the Tim Allen voiced Buzz Lightyear is accidentally damaged and transformed into a debonair, Spanish speaking space commander, ensuring the good hearted laughs of the previous two films and their respective "un-self-aware" Buzzes. Beyond that not much more is teased, and while I have a premonition that this film will not garner the flawless praise of the franchise's two predecessors, I for one can not wait to sit down play with the plastic peformers of the Toy Story universe one more time.
