Jonathan Mostow's "Surrogates"

Continuing the trend of adapting famous adult graphical novels to screen (as seen earlier this year with Watchmen) comes an intriguing story of people who live out their lives by controlling robotic avatars known as "surrogates."  With obvious allusions to the trends and real world woes of massively multiplayer online games such as Second Life and World of Warcraft, the story of Surrogates seems to offer a far more digestable theme around the concept of addiction to imaginary lives, versus the somewhat weightier and more uncomfortable themes of Watchmen.  Starring Bruce Willis piloting a younger looking and undoubtedly CG-airbrushed Bruce Willis-bot, the film is due for release in September of this year.  And while I hate to judge movies based on their trailers, I already get the feeling that this is going to get a somewhat I, Robot reception from this reviewer.  Not great, but watchable.  Click above to check out the full theatrical trailer.
