New Trailer Friday

Wonderland & Book of Eli

Remember this?  Ok, so it's been a while, but it's been worth the wait as I bring you two piping hot trailers, fresh off the cutting room floor (which is to say, off the Final Cut Pro...rendering....floor.....).  First off, "from the twisted mind" of the only director who deserves that moniker (oh come on, it's Tim Burton!) comes a "twisted" take on what is already one of the most bizarre children's stories in existence, Alice in Wonderland.  Starring Burton regulars Johnny Depp and Mrs. Tim Burton (Helena Bonham Carter), it's almost hard to put a finger on where, exactly, the creepiness is coming from.  In fact, for a story that is already nightmare inducing as-is, I actually think I could stand Burton to go a little more "American McGee" than the trailer seems to show.  Right now it almost seems, well, whimsical.  That will not do, Mr. Burton, not do at all.  Check it out below:

This next trailer comes from the little known "Hughes" brothers and despite starring the somewhat miss-of-late actor Denzel Washington, the premise, somewhere between the Road Warrior and Fallout 3, looks awesome.  The truth is, we really haven't had a good post-apocalyptic film in a while (don't you dare mention Terminator Salvation) and with The Book of Eli set to come out early next year AND the beautiful looking 9 coming out in September, we might just have enough apocalypse to tide ourselves over till the world ends in 2012.  However, the problem with post-apocalyptic films is that while sometimes you get a Wall-e or A Boy and his Dog, most of the time you get a Waterworld, and no-one wants that (sheesh, did Kevin Costner really do that AND The Postman? Poor bugger).  Anyway, this one looks promising, and looks to have plenty of 'splosions to boot!  Check it out:
