New Trailer Friday
James Cameron's "Avatar"
It's finally here, the trailer for what James Cameron claims to be the next evolution in film CG technology. His claims that you will look at the environments and characters in the film and believe they are real are now ready to be put to test in unforgiving wilds of the interwebs.
So what are my first impressions? AMAZING. Whether it's looking at a floating boulder covered in vegetation or the way a fire light illuminates the feline features of a ten foot tall Avatar, it all looks freakishly good. Can I tell it's CG? For the creatures, of course. But that doesn't stop if from looking breathtakingly beautiful, and in some moments, mind bendingly real. For me, if there is even one instance in this film where the ten foot tall, blue cat people stop being animated characters and start being living creatures, then James Cameron has accomplished his goal. Besides, techno talk aside, the film looks like to be epic sci-fanatasy adventure, and what more could you ask for?
Look for more impressions next week from my "Avatar Day" 3D IMAX sneak peek screening.
Watch a movie, play a game, enjoy your weekend!
