Variety Strikes Back

Daily Variety Seeks Injunction Against Use of Logo

I'm sad to say that as of April 1, 2010, I have been given 3 days to shut down the site Daily Monotony for trademark infringement of logo and themes of Variety enterainment news and their parent company Reed Business Information.  

According to an email by from Variety, "the website dailymonotony.com is in clear violation of the Variety logo and trademark, and is hereby ordered to cease and desist use of all content infringing on Variety intellectual property, including logos, site name, and any other content that could be construed as relating to or representing Variety and its parent company Reed Business Information."

As I certainly don't want to get in trouble with the highly praised entertainment trade-paper on which our site was so facetiously based, I've decided to comply with their wishes, and will soon launch the website with a new address and logo.  I've been playing around with a few ideas, and here's what I've come up with so far:

 

I guess I've always known that they'd figure this out sooner or later.  We had a good run...

Hahaha! That would be awesome if you did get a cease and desist from them though - I'd have it framed.
