New Trailer Friday
The Green Hornet
He always gets away, you know. Wow, it's been WAY too long since I've posted something, and in few days I will post a good long reason why (it involves a perfect confluence of too much work and too many good deals on Xbox Live Arcade).
So, The Green Hornet. This is a movie that has been struggling to get off the ground for a long time. Original, the project was being helmed by Hong Kong film director, and all around comic genius, Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer). About of year of studio fighting later, Chow has sadly left the project (which in my mind is nothing but a travesty) but I am somewhat hopeful that the Seth Rogen helmed film might not completely suck.
The movie's concept does wreak a bit of that desperation for new ideas that spawns films like The A-team and one wonders whether a M*A*S*H movie is around the corner, but I'm fully happy to see my elementary school FX channel line-up turned into films as long as they capture some of the essence of what made them so loved. To me, this series has so much baggage as being Bruce Lee's one big foray into Western entertainment, that doing it wrong is almost sacrilegious. So needless to say, there will be some impossibly big boots to fill by newcomer Jay Chou who will be playing the roll of Kato. That said, the trailer seems to nail the "cool" factor almost pitch perfect, and I think Chou's imperfect English is in-and-of-itself a fitting tribute to Lee's struggle for Asian acceptance in Western media.
The movie also earns brownie points for including three of my favorite actors, Christoph Waltz (playing the bad guy, go figure), Tom Wilkonson, and Admiral Adama...uh I mean Edward James Olmos (you'll have to go to IMDB for that tidbit).
Oh yeah, and in case you are reading this on Facebook and not enjoying my website's beautiful tribute to the film coming out today, I'm kind of excited to see Inception. Like, REALLY excited to see Inception.
